About Us

Who we are

Where Every Cow is Family, Every Life is Sacred

“Caring for cows is not just a tradition—it is a path to peace, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment.”

Nestled in the heart of India’s spiritual landscape, Sri Sri Gaushala is more than a shelter—it is a sanctuary of compassion, tradition, and service. Our journey began in 2002 with just two cows and a simple intention: to protect, nurture, and celebrate India’s indigenous cow breeds. Over the years, this humble beginning blossomed into a vibrant mission, now home to over 1,600 cows from 19 different native breeds, each living freely and lovingly cared for in a natural, peaceful environment

Our Inspiration

Sri Sri Gaushala is deeply inspired by the vision of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a globally revered spiritual leader and humanitarian. As the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, Gurudev has dedicated his life to spreading the values of peace, compassion, and service. The Art of Living Foundation, present in over 150 countries, has touched millions of lives through its programs on meditation, yoga, and stress-free living. Gurudev’s teachings remind us that true service lies in caring for all living beings and in nurturing the environment that sustains us.
